The Short Version
- Your documents never leave your iPhone. All scanning, OCR, and AI naming happens on-device.
- No account required. Just download and scan.
- No ads, no tracking. We make money from subscriptions, not your data.
- We literally cannot see your data. There's nothing to leak, sell, or lose.
How ScanDash Works
ScanDash is fundamentally different from other scanner apps. While most scanners upload your documents to cloud servers for processing, everything in ScanDash happens on your iPhone.
- Document Scanning: Uses Apple's VisionKit framework—processing happens entirely on your device.
- OCR (Text Recognition): Uses Apple's Vision framework—your document text is extracted locally, never uploaded.
- AI-Powered Naming: Uses Apple's on-device machine learning—smart file names are generated without sending data anywhere.
- Search: Your document index is stored locally—search queries never leave your device.
What We Don't Collect
Because processing happens on your device, we don't have access to:
- Your scanned documents or their contents
- The text extracted from your documents
- Your file names or folder structure
- Your search queries
- Any personal information from your documents
Optional Cloud Sync
If you choose to enable iCloud sync, your documents sync directly between your Apple devices using your own iCloud account. This is a direct connection between your devices and Apple—ScanDash never sees or touches this data.
We do not offer our own cloud storage. Your data stays in ecosystems you control.
Subscription Management
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive only:
- A receipt that your subscription is active (to unlock Pro features)
- No payment details, no credit card numbers, no billing addresses
Apple's privacy policy governs subscription billing.
Crash Reports
If you opt in via iOS Settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports to help improve app stability. These contain technical information about the crash (device type, iOS version, stack trace) but never include document contents or personal information.
No Analytics, No Tracking
We do not use any analytics SDKs. We do not track:
- How often you use the app
- What features you use
- How many documents you scan
- Your location
- Your browsing behavior
We believe you should be able to use an app without being watched.
Third-Party Services
ScanDash uses minimal third-party services:
- Apple (App Store, iCloud): For purchases and optional sync
That's it. No analytics providers, no advertising networks, no data brokers.
Security
Your documents are protected by iOS's built-in security:
- Device encryption (enabled by default on modern iPhones)
- App sandbox (other apps cannot access ScanDash data)
- Face ID / Touch ID protection (if enabled)
Because we don't store your data on servers, there's no central database that could be breached.
Children's Privacy
ScanDash is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the app.
